Recipe Highlights

Bone-In Ribeyes have a ton of flavor, which is why so many people love them. Ribeyes after all, are from one of the most delicious and tender cuts of beef: the rib primal. But if you’re looking to turn the flavor and the experience up a notch, we’ve got you covered. The whiskey steak marinade is easy to prepare, with an amazing outcome. A little sweet, with a little heat, we present to you – the perfect combination.

Sweet and Spicy Whiskey Steak Marinade

Place your steak in the plastic Ziplock bag. Add the rest of the ingredients and seal. Shake the bag to mix the ingredients in the steak. Place the bag in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Why Reverse Sear Ribeye

Reverse searing ribeye is a fantastic way to evenly cook the inside of a thick steak and get a nicely charred crust. To reverse sear, simply smoke the steak on low heat for 45 minutes to 1 hour and then turn up the heat to sear both sides for 3 to 5 minutes each. It’s just that simple!

Cooking Instructions

  1. Start your Country Smokers Grill to “smoke”. Once it is fired up, set your grill to 225°F.
  2. Place your Bone-In Ribeye on a board or in a pan to season.
  3. Add your steak to the grill and close the lid. Depending on desired doneness, and thickness of the steak, cooking time will vary.
  4. For your desired tenderness, see the following internal temperature recommendations: Rare internal temp: 120-125° Medium rare internal temp: 130-135° Medium internal temp: 135-145°
  5. To sear, you will want to remove the steak when it is 10°F below your desired doneness.
  6. Heat your grill to 400°F.
  7. Once it has reached temp, put your steak in an oiled cast iron pan and place on the grill.
  8. Cook each side for 3 to 5 minutes until each side has a nicely seared char.
  9. Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
  10. Enjoy!
