Cooking Instructions

  1. Open your County Smoker and turn the dial to “smoke”.
  2. Once the pot has caught, lower the lid and set your grill to 350°F.
  3. Once the grill is to temperature, add your bacon to the cast iron pan and place it on the grill – you want it crispy. Flip every few minutes.
  4. As the bacon strips cooks, remove them from the pan and place them on a paper towel, that’s on a plate.
  5. While your bacon is cooking, rinse your green beans and toss them in a mixing bowl.
  6. Add the slightest bit of oil just to help the seasoning stick – NOT a lot. You will be using the bacon grease to cook the green beans.
  7. Sprinkle pepper, cinnamon and a couple pinches of brown sugar into the mixing bowl and mix the green beans around. Season to taste.
  8. Once the bacon has been fully cooked and removed from the grill, depending on the amount of grease that has dripped off the bacon you can either choose to remove some of thr bacon grease or to leave it all in the cast iron and add the green beans directly to the pan. *If you remove some grease, use a hot liquid safe container to hold it and add it directly into the green beans in the cast iron, as needed, while cooking.
  9. Stir every 3-5 minutes. * Caution – the bacon fat with be hot and could “pop” when you stir, so stir carefully, recommended to with grill gloves.
  10. Take some of the cooked bacon and crumble it into the green beans. Save a couple pieces to top the dish off though.
  11. Depending on how done you like your green beans they should take anywhere from 6-12 minutes total to cook.
  12. Remove the green beans from the grill and let cool.
  13. If you prefer, you can transfer the green beans into a serving bowl – or just serve out of the skillet! Just keep in mind the cast iron will be hot
  14. Crumble up the rest of the Brown Sugar Bacon and top the green beans with it. You could also add a couple more pinches of brown sugar on top for presentation if you’d like! Enjoy!
